Title: Pure Drivel
Author: Steve Martin
Publisher: Penguin
Pure Drivel is a collection of anecdotes and observations written by Steve Martin that have appeared as columns in various newspapers and magazines over the years. At times maintaining a straight face as the words delivered contain subtle wit, and at others grinning as he tries to maintain his composure while relating far fetched thoughts. Ranging from a shortage of "full stops" where he presents several pages of text with only the use of one "full stop" to the discovery of kittens on Mars accompanied by the full scientific opinion on this phenomena.
A quick read, suited for filling short periods of time with each piece only being a few pages each. Witty and amusing there are several sections which will be worth remembering. Perhaps I read it too fast, enjoying the first part more - having read the remainder for the sake of finishing the book. I suspect Pure Drivel will be kept handy for rereading sections as the mood takes me.
